Schedule Availability: Monday- Thursday, 12:00 pm- 5:00 pm

Role description:
We are seeking an Academic Tutor with experience in classroom and/or afterschool settings in the field of youth education to support student learning, provide targeted academic assistance, and help create a positive, engaging environment that promotes academic growth and development.
Job description:
- Facilitate and supervise group tutoring sessions (in-person) for ages 5-11, including travel to DUYA and partner sites.
- Prepare lesson plans, lead workshops, and support students with homework, projects, and test prep.
- Research and recommend learning resources, tools, and strategies to enhance instruction and engagement.
- Attend regular team meetings and professional development sessions for content planning and growth.
- Provide positive feedback and use reinforcement strategies to build student confidence and motivation.
- Track student progress through reports, assessments, and ongoing communication with parents and staff.
- Support the onboarding of new tutors and contribute to program planning and instructional improvements.

- Tutoring or academic support experience in a classroom or structured educational setting
- Ability to assist students with reading/phonics/ math concepts, test prep, research, projects, and reinforce classroom concepts
- Skilled in lesson planning, reviewing academic data, and administering assessments to track student progress
- Strong communication skills, cultural competence, and a friendly, proactive, and student-centered approach
- Technically proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and educational tools like library databases
- Able to work independently and in group settings, with the initiative to lead and the judgment to ask for help when needed
- An associate’s or Bachelor’s degre e in English, Math, Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and be willing to travel to one- two school sites weekly and headquarters as needed
