SoBo Homes is a residential design build firm in Boulder, CO. We are striving to build joy through collaborative remodeling, architecture, and design. Job Purpose: The Architectural Designer is responsible for designing all of Sobo's projects, focusing on the architectural and systemic elements of each home. We seek a collaborative individual who can navigate client needs, communicate design intent effectively, and produce necessary documentation to maintain design integrity. Creativity, innovation, understanding budget constraints, and executing client communication are essential. Specific Duties: Client Interaction during Design Phase: 10% Architectural Creativity/Mastery: 10% System Design & Permitting: 30% Engineering & Structural Design: 20% Collaboration with Sobo Team: 30% Additional responsibilities include gathering as-built measurements, developing project details, guiding clients through decisions, and ensuring projects stay on schedule. The role involves developing floor plans, elevations, sections, managing permits, coordinating with engineers, and maintaining organized project documentation. System Design and Permitting: Build as-builts in Chief Architect/Revit, including existing system details. Develop site and landscaping plans, ensuring compliance with city/county requirements. Manage energy mandates, permits, and related documentation. Coordinate with structural engineers and ensure drawings are buildable. Collaboration: Work with estimators, interior designers, trade partners, and clients to ensure seamless project execution. Maintain up-to-date drawings and communicate effectively using project management software. Soft Requirements: Excellent customer service, leadership, humility, integrity, and a love for architecture and remodeling are essential. The candidate should be team-oriented, creative, self-aware, and receptive to feedback. Hard Requirements: College degree in Architecture or Interior Design. Minimum 5 years experience in residential construction and client communication. Proficiency in Google Suite, Revit, Chief Architect. Own vehicle and valid driver’s license.
