About the Role:
The Director of Private Events will be responsible for driving the sales and coordination of all private events at the historic Dayton Arcade. This role focuses exclusively on private bookings such as weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings. You will lead event sales efforts, build strong client relationships, and collaborate closely with the Venue Manager who handles onsite execution to ensure seamless event delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
● Lead the sales process for private events: prospecting, responding to inquiries, conducting site tours, and closing bookings.
● Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients, ensuring a personalized and consultative approach.
● Collaborate closely with the Venue Manager to ensure smooth communication and flawless execution of events.
● Prepare and manage contracts, event orders, timelines, and budgets for private events. ● Client Journey Ownership: Serving as the main point of contact from booking to handoff, ensuring smooth communication, expectations management, and upselling opportunities.
● Post-Event Follow-up: Gathering feedback, testimonials, and referrals to strengthen reputation and drive repeat business.
● Forecasting & Revenue Strategy: Developing annual sales forecasts, tracking pace reports, and aligning with broader Arcade revenue goals.
● Floorplans: Design floorplans and layouts in collaboration with clients and the Venue Manager to ensure the event flow works for both the guest experience and operational needs.
● Equipment Rentals: Prepare and manage rental and equipment orders (tables, chairs, linens, staging, A/V, etc.), ensuring accuracy and timely communication with vendors. ● Work with marketing to promote private event offerings and drive leads. ● Monitor and report on sales metrics and revenue performance.
● Maintain deep knowledge of the Dayton private event market to stay competitive. ● Communicate regularly with property management regarding facility issues and general coordination
● Support the Corporate Director of Events with strategic initiatives and reporting as needed.
Qualifications:
● 3-5+ years experience in private event sales, ideally in historic or unique venues. ● Proven success in achieving sales goals in a competitive market.
● Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
● Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
● Familiarity with Tripleseat software.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Compensation:
● Total Compensation Range: Approximately $67,000 – $100,000+ annually, depending on performance, commission, and bonus achievement.
