Under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and as a member of an engineering project team, this position is responsible for providing engineering and database support for large to small scale drainage projects for both public and private clients. Your technical experience will be supplemented by our EIT training program and activities we have planned for you - it’s the Pape-Dawson Way! Responsibilities include assisting Project Managers and Senior Engineers perform hydrologic modeling and 1D/2D hydraulic modeling for various types of public and private projects, both local and regional; modeling and developing concept plans for detention, open channels, and storm drain for various size projects; developing FEMA submittals for Conditional Letters of Map Revision and Letters of Map Revision; developing Stormwater Management Plans for proposed projects; developing construction plans, specifications and estimates for a variety of sizes and types of drainage projects; construction observation at various construction stages; and being active in Pape-Dawson activities. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university; previous internship experience in hydrology/hydraulics modeling, design and/or construction is excellent but not required; engineering coursework focused on hydrology and hydraulics; basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Excel is beneficial but not required; experience with databases and ArcGIS; use of HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS and XP-SWMM preferred but not required; effective communication skills; ability to interact professionally with clients and employees; ability to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with occasional overtime; and reliability and dependability.
