Job Description
• Large heavy civil contractor seeking an experienced Site Work/Underground Utility Superintendent. Qualified candidates must have site grading and flatwork experience, along with extensive and diverse underground utility work experience (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main) with at least 5 years of experience. An advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and the ability to supervise large groups is essential. Computer proficiency is required. Project values typically up to $5 million. The successful candidate will possess excellent organization, communication, and supervisory skills, and be highly self-sufficient in managing multiple projects, including scheduling, coordinating, and supervising craft activities. Attendance at safety meetings and company events like BBQs is expected.
• Maintain OSHA and company safety literature as required.
• Ensure that Underground Service Alert (USA) tickets are current and accurate, including layout and markings in the field.
People Management
• Manage Leadmen and crews.
• Mentor and train field crews.
• Lead by example to earn respect from crews and clients.
• Recommend hiring, promotion, discipline, and termination of employees.
• Document disciplinary actions involving employees and subcontractors.
• Promote lifelong learning for self and others.
Reporting Structure
General Superintendents report to the Vice President of Field Operations.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years as a Field Superintendent or previous experience as a General Superintendent.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in HCSS HeavyJob, PlanGrid, Smartsheets, and basic Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Experience with tablets, including photography.
