Scope of Work: 

The Locksmith shall be fully equipped to manage security locks for both commercial and Federal government environments, including mechanical and electrical locking devices.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Install, repair, and maintain locks and locking systems for various applications including mechanical and electrical locks
  • Disassemble locks to replace or repair worn parts such as tumblers, springs, and cylinders.
  • Use specialized tools (e.g., lock picks, drills, files, grinders) to open or repair locks.
  • Open safe locks by using sound techniques or safe-drilling methods.
  • Cut new or duplicate keys using key-cutting machines.
  • Change lock combinations and re-key systems as needed.
  • Design and implement master key systems for buildings or facilities.
  • Maintain detailed records of key issuance and lock changes.
  • Ensure work areas are cleaned and restored after maintenance tasks are completed.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Experience with mechanical and electronic locks, including safes, vaults, and keypad systems
  • Possess a certificate of satisfactory completion or graduation from a recognized and accredited locksmith school or institute sponsored or approved by the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA).
  • Knowledge of security standards (e.g., DoD, GSA) and proper drilling techniques
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Public Trust background check, if required for the position.
  • Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.  
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.    
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.


All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and a 5-panel drug test, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
