Mechanical Design Engineer – Design Build Projects
Tampa, Florida | Full-Time | Office-Based with Field VisitsPosition Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client's Design Build team. This role is ideal for a career-minded engineer with strong technical expertise in HVAC and MEP design. You will work closely with sales and project teams to create fully engineered mechanical solutions tailored to client needs. This is a dynamic position that combines office-based design work with occasional field site assessments. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in the MEP industry
Proficiency with heating and cooling load calculations
Skilled in CAD and drafting software
Strong communication and presentation skills
Familiarity with HVAC design in healthcare, manufacturing, and commercial settings
PE license or progress toward licensure
Experience with energy modeling or sustainable design principles
Collaborate with sales teams to develop fully engineered HVAC/mechanical solutions
Conduct on-site surveys to understand customer needs and project scope
Design customized mechanical systems to meet client requirements
Prepare and present design recommendations and project proposals
Generate accurate load calculations and system sizing
Support Project Managers and field teams with technical guidance
Ensure all designs meet code, compliance, and performance standards
Maintain documentation and support handoff to construction teams
