Job Description

We are hiring a Paralegal on a contract basis (20-30 hours / week) for an extremely reputable client in Newport Beach, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal research background, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. They will be detail-oriented, able to manage complex casework, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team. Please apply directly if interested.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and contracts, compiling relevant information to support attorneys.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, resolutions, and ordinances, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Draft contract language by distilling complex concepts into clear and concise agreements, including crafting rent-related language and insurance provisions in collaboration with the risk manager.
  • Perform redlining and detailed contract edits, preparing agreements for final review by attorneys.
  • Serve as the liaison between legal teams, risk management, and outside counsel.
  • Respond to legal inquiries and interpret applicable regulations and procedures while collaborating with staff and external parties.
  • Assist with case management, reviewing contracts for legal compliance, and compiling information on case status and legal topics.
  • Meet with the public to address and resolve disputes related to code enforcement matters.
  • Communicate with public officials, law firms, and organizations involved in legal matters.
  • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of state and federal legal principles, procedures, and terminology.
  • Prior work experience as a paralegal (2+ years preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and preparing contract language.
  • Proficient in legal research, writing, and document preparation.
  • Familiarity with contracts and real property experience is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of legal writing standards, grammar, and advanced English usage.
  • Proficiency in modern office software and legal tools, including word processing, document management, and case management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to perform thorough research, and aptitude for handling detailed contract preparation and legwork.
