CAD Manager  

Location: Houston, TX  

Type: Full-time | On-site  

Experience Level: Senior Level  

We’re looking for a seasoned CAD Manager to lead and optimize our drafting and design production workflows across a growing portfolio of engineering projects. This is a strategic, hands-on role that blends production excellence with staff mentorship, CAD standards enforcement, and cross-team coordination. 

What You’ll Do  

• Lead and manage CAD production across civil, transportation, and infrastructure projects 
• Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide CAD standards, templates, and best practices 
• Oversee the quality, consistency, and accuracy of all plan sets and design deliverables 
• Provide technical support and mentorship to CAD technicians and design staff 
• Coordinate with project managers and discipline leads to ensure timely and accurate drafting support 
• Evaluate and integrate new CAD tools, workflows, and technology to drive efficiency and innovation 
• Support training initiatives and maintain documentation on CAD workflows and software updates 

What We’re Looking For  

• 8+ years of progressive CAD experience in civil or transportation engineering 
• 3+ years in a CAD leadership or management role 
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; knowledge of MicroStation and OpenRoads is a plus 
• Strong understanding of plan production workflows, file management, and layer standards 
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a consulting environment 
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solutions-oriented mindset 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Experience supporting TxDOT or other public-sector infrastructure projects 
• Familiarity with BIM/CIM workflows, GIS integration, or 3D visualization tools 
• Knowledge of project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, etc.) 
• Ability to support proposal efforts with sample plan sets and production timelines
