Our mission is to provide exceptional care to the people of Memphis and the Mid‑South for over a century. Responsibilities Perform scrub duties to assist physician/surgeon during surgical procedures. Maintain a sterile field for surgical services and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques. Effectively manage supplies and equipment; plan and complete tasks efficiently. Demonstrate professional behavior and excellent customer service in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Training Technical Degree or Diploma in Surgical Technology. Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology. Experience No prior work experience required. Skills and Abilities Ability to perform essential job functions. Effective verbal communication with coworkers, physicians, and staff. Strong organizational skills and workflow control. Basic arithmetic ability (high school level). Reading and following written instructions (high school level). Problem‑solving related to procedures. Application of sterile technique principles. Participation in orientation and training to achieve Level II competency. Strong desire to learn and practice surgical tech competencies. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support – American Heart Association. Certified Surgical Technologist – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. TS‑C – National Center for Competency Testing. Must obtain required certification no later than 18 months after completing an accredited surgical technologist program. Supervision This position has no supervisory or lead responsibilities. Physical Demands Climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, repetitive motion. Good balance and coordination. Medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. force frequently. Close visual acuity, color, depth perception, and field of vision for tasks such as assessing patients, preparing data, and extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
