Salary: $25 Hourly

Position Overview:

The Tower Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment on towers and buildings across various locations, including the Kenai Peninsula and Fairbanks. This role demands physical endurance, adherence to strict safety protocols, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. The ideal candidate is resourceful, safety-conscious, and takes pride in their ability to complete tasks efficiently, even in challenging weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Tower Work & Equipment Installation:

• Climb communications towers multiple times a day (1-4 times) to install, maintain, or repair telecommunications equipment.
• Ensure all installations meet industry and company standards for quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and provide custom solutions as needed to address site-specific challenges.

Safety & Compliance:

• Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct safety checks before climbing and while working at heights.
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Environmental & Regional Work Conditions:

• Work outdoors for extended periods, including in adverse weather conditions for up to 3-4 hours at a time.
• Travel to different locations within the state as required.
• Work extended days when necessary to ensure task completion.

Physical Demands:

• Lift, pull, and maneuver items weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Maintain physical endurance for climbing and working at heights for prolonged periods.
• Adapt to various weather conditions and physically demanding tasks.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• Prior experience in telecommunications, tower climbing, or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with installation, maintenance, and repair of telecom equipment is a plus.

Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to create custom solutions as needed.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures precisely.

Certifications/Licenses:

• Tower Climbing Safety & Rescue Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• OSHA certification is a plus.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed at significant heights and in various outdoor environments.
• Must be comfortable working in cold weather conditions for extended periods.
• Flexibility to travel and work extended hours as needed.
