Position: Field Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD (Remote Traveling - but must be based in area)
Duration: Permanent / Direct Hire
*Must be willing to travel up to 80% to deployment sites*
Must-haves
- Bachelors Degree in Technology or related field
- 3-9 years of experience in Systems/Field Engineering integrating, deploying, and supporting integrated hardware and software solutions in networking and communications fields
Experience with the following technologies:
- Operating Systems (RHEL [Red Hat Linux], Windows)
- Scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python)
- Log aggregation and reporting (ELK/Opensearch, Splunk)
- Network analysis tools (Wireshark, Stablenet)
- System monitoring tools (Zabbix, SNMP)
- Virtualization (ESXi, KVM, Red Hat Virtualization)
- System security management and intrusion detection tools (IdM, SSL, IPSec/VPN, SELinux, AIDE)
- Telecommunications protocols (SIP/RTP, ED-137)
- Experience in routing and networking technologies
Day-to-Day
Insight Global is seeking to hire Field Engineers in Columbia, MD to support an international provider of communication and information systems involving safety critical tasks. This position will be providing technical support and field services in integrating, testing, modifying, and repair for the Voice Switching and Networking product line, including both hardware and software components. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements
- Conduct site surveys at customer sites to identify requirements for production and installation
- Install, service, and complete basic repairs of equipment at customer sites
- Perform system debugs
- Perform factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, failure location and analysis
